Kozhikode: Nine persons who went fishing after a ship collided with a boat went missing. 3 people died. The group was fishing in Beypore when the accident happened. The accident took place off the coast of Mangalore. Two people were killed, Mangalore Coastal Police said. The search is being carried out by helicopter.
A total of 13 people were on board. The boat, ISB Rabba, owned by Jaffer, a native of Beypore, was involved in the accident. The Coast Guard and Navy are searching the area. The wrecked ship has not been identified.
Two of the 11 missing persons were rescued by the Coast Guard and others. Sunildas (34) from Bengal and Velmurugan (37) from Tamil Nadu were rescued. The boat was carrying 14 workers. Seven of the injured workers are Miznat natives. N. Seven is from Odisha and one from Bengal.
The incident took place at around 2 pm today. The boat, IASB Rabba, was fishing from Kozhikode Bay. The accident took place 26 nautical miles off the coast of Mangalapuram. The boat was hit by a foreign ship, the IPL Lee Havre. The two were rescued by crew members.
