Thiruvananthapuram: There are indications that there is a move to transfer the salary distribution accounts of police officers in the state to a private bank.
Police are transferring accounts from SBI to HDFC Bank. The DGP has directed the bank to provide the details of the officials involved in the recovery to the private bank. Protests are strong against the transfer of salary accounts in the army.
Currently, the salary distribution accounts in the state police force are with SBI. These accounts are now being transferred to a private bank. Steps have been taken to transfer the accounts of all the employees to HDFC Bank. It is proposed to transfer all employee repayments such as Police Welfare Fund, Mess Allowance and Organizational Collection to HDFC from now on. For this, the DGP instructed them to give all the information of the officials to the private bank.
Officials have to transfer the information through the link available on the mobile. But officials complain that their personal information is being leaked to another agency based in Safdarjung, Delhi, where HDFC Bank has been awarded the contract. Officials also shared concerns that the move could create security issues in the future.
