Thiruvananthapuram: CPI (M) state secretary A. Vijayaraghavan said that the party lacked attention regarding the Kerala Police law amendment. He said the government was ready to correct the criticism.
‘The party also includes the central leadership. The party is not an individual. Vijayaraghavan said that when the police criticized the amendment, they corrected it.
The controversial Kerala Police Law Amendment Ordinance was canceled yesterday. The amendment was repealed after Governor Arif Mohammad Khan signed the repealing ordinance to withdraw the amendment yesterday evening. For the first time in the history of the state, a repealing ordinance was issued to repeal an ordinance.
The ordinance was handed over to the governor on Wednesday afternoon. The government decided to withdraw the ordinance amid protests across the state. The ordinance came into force on November 21 with the approval of the Governor.The 118A amendment makes spreading or publishing fake content, insult or defame individuals through any medium is a crime and it will be punishable up to three years in prison and a fine of up to Rs 10,000.
