In a move towards digitalization, the Kerala government has announced the abolition of printed driving licenses and registration certificates (RC books). This decision aims to streamline services, reduce paperwork, and promote environmental sustainability.
Starting with driving licenses, the state will gradually transition to a completely digital system. Vehicle owners can download their documents online and store them securely in digital lockers. These digital copies will be accepted as valid proof during inspections and other official transactions.
The government expects this initiative to significantly reduce the inconvenience and time-consuming process of obtaining and renewing physical documents. It also aligns with the broader trend of digital transformation across various sectors.
