Thiruvananthapuram: Engineering Architecture and Medical Entrance Examination (KEAM) will be conducted online from this year in the state. The exam will be held from June 5 to 9 at various centers. The examination will be held in 198 examination centers of 130 government self-financing institutions across all districts of the state, 2 examination centers in Delhi and one each in Mumbai and Dubai.
1,13,447 students will write the exam. The software for the online examination is developed by C-DIT, a government organization. Higher Education Minister Dr R Bindu said in a press conference that this is the first time in the state that such an extensive online examination is being conducted. A maximum of 18,993 candidates can take the exam in a day.
A maximum of 126 students can appear in an exam center at the same time. Backup computers are also provided at all centers. A separate control room has been opened for the conduct of the examination at the Entrance Examination Commissionerate. Control rooms were also opened at the district levels. The Nodal Officer will be responsible for supervision in the districts. All the 130 centers will have special coordinators and observers. The concerned Chief Superintendent will be in charge of the examination centers including servers.
The exam will start on 6th in Dubai center and on 5th in all other centers including Mumbai and Delhi. The special exam for BPharm admission will be held on 6th afternoon from 3.30 to 5 pm. The minister also stated that it is hoped that the exam results will be announced on the 20th as it has been switched to online.
Minister Bindu said that keeping in view the special situation of rains, UPS back-up and generator have been set up in all exam centers.
