Thiruvananthapuram: Arjun Ayanki has not been granted bail in the Karipur gold smuggling case. The court rejected the bail application. This is the second time the bail application has been rejected by the court. The petition was dismissed by a court in Kochi considering the financial crimes.
The customs arrested Arjun Ayanki on June 28. The second accused in the case, Arjun, had told the customs court that there was a Kannur-based smuggling gang and that the case would be overturned if bail was granted. Customs has found that Arjun had threatened people and smuggled them in the name of two accused who are in jail in the murder case. Customs also said that the accused was involved in smuggling gold through various airports.
The court had also rejected the bail plea filed by Arjun Ayanki on July 7 last month. The customs court was told that the release of Ayanki would affect the further investigation of the case.
