Thiruvananthapuram: The Food Safety Department has organized a two-day special drive as part of Operation Life. As a part of epidemic prevention, the tests were conducted as per the instructions of Health Minister Veena George. The inspections were carried out without warning.
The aim was to ensure the cleanliness of food establishments and employees such as hotels and restaurants in relation to monsoons. Health card of employees, personal hygiene, water used for cooking etc. were checked. During the two-day special drive, the Food Safety Department conducted inspections in 2644 establishments across the state. 134 squads conducted the inspections across the state. 107 establishments were suspended for not complying with food safety quality standards. Notices were also issued to more than 700 institutions.
