Thrissur: Massive fraud happening in the state in the name of SBI’s popular Yono application malfunction. The money was stolen by sending a message to fake mobile phones claiming to be from the bank. The Thrissur City Police Cyber Crime Unit has issued a warning in this regard.
The messages are falsely received from the State Bank of India.
The message said that the customer’s SBI Yono application service has been interrupted and they need to click on the link below to update and resume. The police revealed that those who clicked on the link and gave the information thinking that the message was correct, lost money in the account. Believing that the message is genuine, the customer clicks on the link to access the bank’s website. There you will be asked to type your username, password, and OTP. The customer misrepresents that the bank is the real website. Information, including passwords, is being leaked to the scam’s fake website.
Do not trust SMS messages coming from fake SBI private mobile numbers.
2. Do not click on the unreliable link contained in the SMS.
3. Note the URL of the website used for banking transactions. Only transact with the correct web address of SBI or other banking banks.
4. If in doubt, contact your bank branch, police said.
