Kochi: The High Court has ruled that cannot justify paying higher fees for post-covid treatment. The court heard a review petition filed by private hospital management challenging the government’s order restricting covid treatment rates.
The court ruled that the high fees could not be justified, citing references in a government order requiring APL members to pay for covid treatment.
The court noted that there was confusion in the state government’s order that APL factions should pay for post covid treatment. The court asked why treatment could not be discounted if the deaths of patients who died negatively after 30 days could be considered covid deaths. The court directed the government to submit a detailed affidavit stating the circumstances under which the exemption was waived.
It was suggested that an explanation should be given regarding the consideration of including covid in the government’s covid treatment package for one-month treatment after covid becomes negative. The court also asked how the denial of post covid treatment could be denied when the negative 30-day-old death was admitted to be due to covid. The petition will be considered again in two weeks.
