Thiruvananthapuram: The Central Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rains with thunder and lightning in the state for the next five days. Isolated heavy rain is also likely on June 7,8,9. A yellow alert has been declared in eight districts today.
The yellow alert was issued in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, and Malappuram districts today. The Central Meteorological Department has forecast light rains in other districts. Extreme winds of up to 40 km/hr are expected.
