Thiruvananthapuram: The Central Meteorological Department has predicted that the rains will intensify in Kerala in the coming days. Orange alert today in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Pathanamthitta districts. The Central Meteorological Department has warned that there is a chance of heavy rain at isolated places. Yellow alert today in Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad and Malappuram districts.
The Meteorological Department advised the public and government systems to be on high alert as there is a possibility of landslides, mountain floods and water logging in low-lying areas and cities if the rain continues in the areas that have received heavy rains in the past few days.
Relief camps will be set up in advance in case of heavy rains in the districts declared orange alert. Residents of houses that are not sealed and have weak roofs should also take special care as they are prone to strong winds. People living in danger zones should be careful as the storm surge is likely to be strong along various coasts.
