Kozhikode: The high court has granted bail to Arjun Ayanki in the Karipur gold smuggling case with strict conditions. Bail was granted on the condition of not entering the Kannur district for three months. Earlier, lower courts had rejected Arjun Ayanki’s bail plea.
The bail has been granted in the assurance of two lakh rupees fine and personal bond. He has been directed not to leave the state without the permission of the investigating officer and to appear before the investigating officers twice a month and present his passport in court.
Arjun Ayanki was arrested on June 28 in the Karipur gold smuggling case. Earlier, the Kochi High Court had rejected Arjun’s bail plea.
The lower court denied bail on the ground that granting bail to the accused would adversely affect the case and could sabotage the case.
