New Delhi: NIA has taken over the investigation into the Elathur train fire case. Today the accused was produced in the court and remanded. He was shifted to Viyur Jail. The action comes after the Union Home Ministry issued a notification to take up the case.
When the accused was produced in the court, the police did not ask for his custody. Once the NIA has taken over the investigation of the case, the Kerala Police will hand over all the findings of the investigation to the NIA.
Meanwhile, the NIA Kochi unit has registered an FIR. The case has been registered under sections of UAPA. The FIR was submitted to the NIA court.
