Thiruvananthapuram: Disciplinary action against 100 KSRTC employees for being drunk and keeping alcohol while on duty. 74 employees of KSRTC in 60 units have been suspended and 26 have been removed from service. The action is part of the Vigilance Special Surprise Investigation Program held at KSRTC from April 1 to 15, 2024.
In the inspection of 60 units, one station master, two vehicle supervisors, one security sergeant, nine permanent mechanics, one alternate mechanic, 22 permanent conductors, 9 alternate conductors, one swift conductor, 39 permanent drivers, 10 alternate drivers and five swift driver-cum-conductors. He was found drunk on duty.
The current order states that all employees except women who come for duty should be assigned to duty only after checking with a breathalyzer and ensuring that the employees are not under the influence of alcohol. Following this, a special inspection was conducted. It appears that a small section of employees are still ignoring such warnings and following irresponsible practices. It cannot be granted in any way.
Such activities affecting the safety of passengers and public should be completely avoided by the Corporation. The KSRTC management informed that efforts, inspections and measures will continue for this.
