50 crore has been sanctioned to the State Civil Supplies Corporation for the cost of ensuring door-to-door distribution of ration foodgrains. Finance Minister KN Balagopal informed that the amount will be made available as additional state allocation.
The rate of distribution of ration food grains under the National Food Act is Rs 65 per quintal. The condition is that it should be shared equally by the central and state governments.
But in Kerala, the handling and transportation cost is Rs 190 to Rs 200 per quintal. Out of this, the state has to pay an amount except Rs.32.50.
