Kochi: BJP MP Maneka Gandhi has strongly intervened in the incident where a pet dog was tied to a car and dragged through the middle of the road. Maneka Gandhi called the DGP and Aluva Rural SP seeking information. They also demanded that strict action be taken against the accused.
The driver of the car, Yusuf, a resident of Kuthukara Chalaka, was arrested by the police for tying the dog to a car and dragging it through the middle of the road. Akhil, a native of Nedumbassery, who was riding his bike behind the car, recorded the scenes and spread them on social media. The dog’s whole body was cut by being dragged through the road. Also, the skin on the legs was flaky enough to be seen.
Yusuf admitted that the dog belonged to him and was tied up in a car and taken away after being disturbed at home. But he was released on bail. He has been charged with felony criminal mischief. There is strong opposition to this from animal lovers.
