Kannur: Following the demise of Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, a hartal will be observed today in Thalassery, Dharmadam, and Kannur constituencies. The funeral will be held today at 3 pm in Thalassery.
The body was brought to Kannur from Chennai in an air ambulance on Sunday. Then it was brought to Thalassery as a mourning procession. Kodiyeri’s body was brought to his residence at 10 am. He will be cremated at Payyambalam, Kannur at 3 pm.
Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, who was always a favorite leader of the people and the party, will be laid to rest on the shores of Payyambalam, where the great charioteers will be laid to rest. Party sources also informed that a memorial hall will also be built here for Kodiyeri. Kodiyeri will be cremated amid the memorials of former Chief Minister EK Nayanar and former CPIM State Secretary Chadayan Govindan.
