Thiruvananthapuram: The Central Meteorological Department has said that there is a possibility of heavy rain in the next 5 days in the state. Yellow alert has been declared in seven districts today. Yellow alert has been announced in Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad and Malappuram districts.
The rains in Kerala have intensified due to the influence of cyclonic circulation in the Bay of Bengal. From today till August 3, fishermen have also been banned from going to sea along the Kerala coast.
Orange alert has been announced tomorrow in Kottayam and Idukki districts and yellow alert in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur, and Kasaragod districts.
The State Disaster Management Authority has also warned people in low-lying areas, river banks and landslide-prone hilly areas to be extremely cautious as the rains continue.
