Thiruvananthapuram: Governor Arif Muhammad Khan sought legal advice on the bill to remove the governor from the post of chancellor. The Governor has sought legal advice from the Raj Bhavan Standing Council. At present, the governor is of the position that he will take further action after studying the bill in detail.
The bill deals with the transfer of the governor from the post of chancellor of all the 14 universities in the state. The bill will come into effect only after the governor signs it. The governor who will return to the state on January 3 is likely to take further action after examining the legal advice.
There are also reports that the matter will be discussed with the senior lawyers of the Supreme Court. If the Governor does not take a decision on the bill and sends it to the President for consideration, the bill will remain in effect for a long time.
