Thiruvananthapuram: The Central Meteorological Department has said that there is a possibility of widespread rain in the state for three days. An orange alert has been issued in the Idukki district today because of heavy rainfall. 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm of rain is forecast in 24 hours. A yellow alert has been announced today in Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts. 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm of rain is expected in 24 hours.
A yellow alert was declared in Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, and Kannur districts on Sunday, and Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts on Monday. The Central Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert in some districts, but as there is a possibility of isolated heavy thundershowers in the hilly areas, caution should be exercised similar to the orange alert in the hilly areas that have received heavy rains in the past few days.
The Central Meteorological Department has informed us that no fishing should be done on Kerala coasts from today till tomorrow and on Lakshadweep coasts till Monday. According to the Central Meteorological Department, strong winds with a speed of 40 to 45 kmph at occasional gusts of up to 55 kmph are likely to occur over Kerala coasts till Monday and Lakshadweep coasts till Tuesday.
