Thiruvananthapuram: Widespread rain is likely in the state. Yellow alert declared in 9 districts. A yellow alert has been declared in Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, and Kottayam districts. The Central Meteorological Department said that the low pressure formed in the Bay of Bengal is likely to become a cyclone. Another cyclone exists in the Arabian Sea near the Maharashtra coast. As a result, widespread rain is likely from today to October 22.
A chance of isolated heavy rain is forecast. Heavy rains mean rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours. Those living in hilly areas that have received heavy rains in recent days should remain vigilant.
Strong winds and bad weather conditions are likely to occur over the southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining sea areas till Sunday with a speed of 45 to 55 kmph and on some occasions up to 65 kmph. There is also a warning not to go fishing in these areas.
