The Central Meteorological Department has warned that there is a possibility of heavy rain in the state today. Yellow alert has been declared in seven districts. Fishing ban will continue in Kerala-Karnataka-Lakshadweep coasts. People in the coastal hilly areas are advised to be cautious.
Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Malappuram, Wayanad, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod districts have been warned of heavy rain. According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rains are continuing in the state due to the influence of the cyclonic circulation over Maratha Wada. There is a chance of strong winds along with thundershowers at isolated places.
Wind gusts of up to 40 kilometers per hour are possible and people in mountainous and coastal areas are advised to be cautious. Kerala, Karnataka and Lakshadweep coasts have been banned from fishing due to high waves and sea storms on Kerala coast and south Tamil Nadu coast.
