Thiruvananthapuram: State Election Commissioner A Shahjahan said that the by-elections in the 31 local wards of the state will be held on December 10. By-elections are held in 4 block panchayat wards, 3 municipality wards and 23 gram panchayat wards in 11 districts. By-elections are held in districts other than Ernakulam, Wayanad and Kasaragod.
Notification will be issued on Friday. Nomination papers can be submitted till 22nd. Scrutiny on 23rd. Paper can be withdrawn till 25th. Counting of votes will be done on December 11 at 10 am. 192 polling booths will be set up for polling.
A model code of conduct has come into effect in polling areas. The code of conduct applies to the respective wards in municipalities and to the entire area in gram panchayats. The Code of Conduct applies to Gram Panchayat area which includes wards with by-elections in Block and District Panchayats. The final voter list was published on the last 19.
