Thiruvananthapuram: All three accused get life imprisonment in Amburi Rakhi murder case. The Sixth Sessions Court of Thiruvananthapuram sentenced the accused to life imprisonment and a fine of four and a half lakh rupees. Accused in the case are Akhil, his elder brother Rahul and their friend Adarsh, a native of Amburi Thattammuk. The court found all three accused guilty. He was convicted on charges of murder and destruction of evidence. On June 21, 2019, the first accused killed Rakhi by tying a rope around her neck in front of the house under construction of soldier Akhil at Ashwati Bhavan, Amburi Thattammuk. The case is that the body was hidden by digging a hole behind the house. Rakhi’s father, Rajan Poowar, complained to the police that Rakhi was missing.
Rakhi who was killed and the first accused Akhil were in love. Meanwhile, Akhil got another wedding fixed. With this, Rakhi went to the house of the woman who was engaged to Akhil and revealed their relationship. The charge sheet of the police stated that Akhil, his brother Rahul and his friend Adarsh got angry and conspired to kill Rakhi.
The accused were found during the investigation conducted by the police focusing on Rakhi’s mobile phone. The body was found a month after the murder. On July 24, 2019, the police had arrested the third accused, Adarsh. Then the police arrested Rahul on the 25th and Akhil on the 29th. After days of evidence collection, crucial evidence such as Rakhi’s dress, bag and mobile phone were found. In the case, the investigation team submitted a charge sheet of around 1500 pages to the court. There were 115 witnesses in the case.
