Kochi: A judge has said that it will take six months to complete the trial in the case of attacking the actress. The Registrar of the Kerala High Court submitted a letter to the Supreme Court through the Judiciary. The letter, dated January 16, written by Special Trial Court Judge Honey M Varghese, was forwarded to the Supreme Court by the Registrar (Judicial) of the High Court.
The special court judge said in a letter to the apex court that the trial petition could not be completed within the time frame prescribed by the apex court due to the prosecution’s transfer petitions and the absence of the prosecutor. The letter will be considered by a bench headed by Justice AM Khanwilker tomorrow.
The trial court was due to complete its proceedings in the first week of February, following an order issued by the Supreme Court last August. But the state government approached the court seeking to change the trial court. This demand was rejected by the Supreme Court. On November 29, 2019, a bench of Justices AM Khanwilker and Dinesh Maheshwari had directed that the trial in the case of actor Dileep be completed within six months.
