Kozhikode: Actor Mamukoya passed away. He was seventy-six years old. He was admitted to the hospital after he felt unwell while inaugurating the sevens football match in Malappuram. He was being treated in the intensive care unit.
He has acted in about 400 films. In 1979, he made his debut in the film world with the film Anyarude Bhumi. Mamukoya, who was active in Kozhikode theater groups during his career, played notable roles in the plays of KT Muhammad and Vasu Pradeep.
The first notable character was an Arabic teacher in the movie Doore Doore Oru Koodu Koottam. He was a regular actor in Sathyan Anthikad films. Gafoor in Nadodikattu, Abdu in Perumazhakkalam,K G Poduwal in Sandesham, and the security man in Oppam are the characters that Mamukoya was also notable. Mamukoya was an actor who had the ability to be a compelling presence even in small roles.
He received a special mention from the State Film Jury for his performance in Perumazhakkalam. Mamukoya also won the Best Comedian Award for his role in Innathe Chinthavishayam.
