The death sentence of Abdul Rahim, a resident of Kotompuzha, Kozhikode, who is in jail in Saudi Arabia, has been cancelled. The order belongs to the Riyadh Criminal Court.
After examining all the documents, the court signed the order canceling the death sentence. The court handed over a check of one and a half crore riyals deposited in the court through the embassy to the power of attorney of the family of the murdered Saudi boy.
Abdul Rahim has been in jail for 18 years for killing his sponsor’s disabled son. Rahim’s release came after the Trust gave one and a half million Saudi Riyals to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs out of more than 47 crore Indian rupees collected for his release.
