Imphal: Tensions continue in Manipur. Women-led assailants set fire to 10 vacant houses and a school. An armed group unleashed violence in Torbang Bazar of Churachandpur district. According to the police, hundreds of women were lined up around the attackers like a security shield.
The assailants opened fire several times and threw locally made bombs. The police also say that the women had formed a circle around them, so they refrained from firing back. Children’s Treasure High School in Torbang Bazar was set ablaze by the attackers. The crowd also tried to hijack BSF vehicles. But as the local team deployed in the area retaliated, the assailants abandoned their attempt to take the vehicle.
