New Delhi: The central government has revised the price of covid vaccine purchased from companies. The new price is Rs 215.15 including tax for Covishield purchased from Serum Institute and Rs 225.75 for covaxin purchased from Bharat Biotech. Earlier it was Rs 150.
The government has placed an order for 66 crore doses of vaccine to be distributed from August to December. The dosage is Rs 37.5 crore from covishield and Rs 28.5 crore from covaxin.
Covshield is priced at Rs 205 tax-free and covaxin at Rs 215. At present, companies pay Rs 150 to the central government for two vaccines.
The companies provide the vaccine to the central government, state governments, and private hospitals at different prices. It is reported that after the new vaccine policy comes into force on June 21, the states will be fully vaccinated by the central government. Only private hospitals now buy directly from companies.
