Dubai: UAE and Oman extend the ban on Indian passengers indefinitely as the coronavirus cases increased over 2 lakh.
According to the UAE Civil Aviation Authority, the ban applies to domestic and foreign flights from India and transit passengers via India. Passengers who have been in India for the last 14 days will not be allowed. However, Indians who have spent the last 14 days of the journey in other countries have access. Transit flights to India via UAE will not be banned.
Embassy officials, Golden Visas, and business travelers are not barred. However, upon arrival in the country, they have 10 days of quarantine and PCR examination. In addition, only those with a PCR negative certificate who have traveled 72-48 hours during the journey will be allowed entry.
In addition to India, Oman has banned travelers from Pakistan, Bangladesh, Britain, Egypt, the Philippines, Sudan, Lebanon, South Africa, Brazil, Nigeria, Tanzania, Ghana, Guinea, Sierra Leone, and Ethiopia. Those who cross the country within 14 days are also barred. The ban is for an indefinite period from Friday. Omani citizens, diplomats, health workers, and their families are excluded from the decision.
The UAE and Oman banned Indian flights on April 24 in the wake of reports of the genetically modified virus in India. Emirates Airlines Travels has been told that the UAE ban has been extended to May 14, but the ban was extended indefinitely by the Disaster Management Authority on Tuesday.
