Bengaluru: Two supporters of Islamic State (IS) who planned to carry out explosions in various places in Karnataka have been arrested by the police.
Mas Muneer Ahmed (22), a native of Mangaluru, and Syed Yasin Sideswar (21), a native of Shivamoga, were arrested by Shivamoga police.
Their accomplice Muhammad Shariq, a resident of Thirthahalli Soppugudde, is absconding. UAPA was also charged against the accused. Police also informed them that they had explosives.
Home Minister Araga Gyanendra said that three people have links with ISIS. The arrested Yasin is an electrical engineer. The accused have played a key role in the months-long violence in Shivamogga. All three have received terrorist training, including explosions. He said that one of them has links with Pakistan-based terror groups and the accused are being interrogated in detail.
