New Delhi: Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has launched two major warships of the Indian Navy – the Surat and the Udayagiri – at the Majjagawa Docks Limited in Mumbai. ‘Surat’ is the fourth guided-missile destroyer in the P15B series. Udayagiri is the second stealth frigate in the P17A range. Both warships were self-designed by the Directorate of Naval Design (DND) and built at MDL, Mumbai.
Speaking on the occasion, the Defense Minister said that INS Udayagiri and INS Surat are shining examples of India’s growing indigenous potential. These will be the world’s best missile carrier warships based on the latest technology.
