Guwahati: Coal tractors caught fire in Assam’s Dima Hasao district. Five were killed. The violence was led by the Dimasa National Liberation Army.
The incident took place in the Rangerbeel area, five kilometers from Diunmukh police station. The attackers opened fire on trucks parked here on Thursday night. Two truck drivers were shot dead. Three people were killed in the blaze.
Police said they have launched a search for the attackers. Police added that surveillance in the area has been tightened.
The truck drivers told police the attackers demanded money from them. They also demanded police security for themselves.
