Tokyo: PV Sindhu, India’s medal hope in badminton at the Olympics, enters the quarterfinals. India’s silver medalist advanced to the knockout round in Rio this morning after defeating Hong Kong’s Ngan Yi Chueng in straight sets.
Sindhu, the sixth seed in the tournament, was easily overtaken, Chueng. Score – 21-9, 21-16. Sindhu advanced to the quarterfinals as the group champion with two wins in a row. Sindhu competed in Group J. The Hong Kong star was unable to put up a significant challenge against Sindhu. Sindhu, who dominated from the start of the match, took an 11-5 lead in the first set and won the first set without giving any chance to her opponent. In the first set, the Hong Kong star could do nothing against Sindhu’s superiority. Sindhu faced some challenges in the second set compared to the first.
