New Delhi: The Reserve Bank of India said that the withdrawn 2000 notes can be exchanged or deposited from banks till the October 7th. The earlier deadline had expired today.
Transfer of Rs 2000 through banks will be banned from 8. After the deadline, the Rs 2000 notes can be exchanged through 19 offices of the Reserve Bank of India. Notes can also be exchanged through India Post.
On May 19, when demonetization was announced, 3.56 lakh crores of 2000 rupees were in circulation. RBI itself had informed that 3.42 lakh crore rupees had been returned. 0.14 lakh notes are still in circulation.
