Dispur: Election Commission issues notice to eight Assam newspapers for violating election code of conduct The Election Commission of India (ECI) has taken action against the BJP for publishing an advertisement under the headline “Claiming to win all 47 seats in the first phase of elections in Assam”.
The complaint was lodged at the Dispur police station against Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, National President Nadda, state President Ranjit Kumar Das, and seven other leaders. The BJP had published headlines in eight newspapers on Sunday. The first phase of polling in Assam took place on March 27.
