New Delhi: The deadline for linking PAN cards with Aadhaar has been extended to March 31.
From April 1, 2022, your Permanent Account Number (PAN) card will be deactivated if not linked to your Aadhaar card.
Pursuant to Section 139AA AA of the Income Tax Act, every person who has PAN on July 1, 2017, and is eligible to receive Aadhaar should link PAN with Aadhaar.
PAN cards not affiliated with Aadhaar will be declared inactive by the due date. A fine of up to Rs 10,000 can be levied for failing to provide PAN card details each time. This is under Section 272B of the IT Act.
At the same time, one can have only one pan. Obtaining or possessing more than one PAN card is illegal and can result in a fine of up to Rs 10,000.
Therefore, it is advisable not to carry or hold more than one pan.
