Malappuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has announced that the state government will provide financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh to the families of those who died in the Tanur boat accident and the state government will bear the medical expenses of the injured. The decision of the Cabinet was announced by the Chief Minister when he came directly to the accident site.
He said that the state is taking the accident seriously and will conduct a judicial inquiry. He said that there will be a team of technical experts for the investigation.
The Chief Minister said that the meeting between MLAs and various party leaders was held in Tanur. 22 people lost their lives in the tragedy. Necessary precautions should be taken now to prevent such incidents from happening again. The Chief Minister said that necessary steps will be taken for that.
The boat met with an accident in Tanur yesterday. 22 people lost their lives in the accident. Five people swam to safety. 10 people were rescued. A search is on in and around the accident site.
