New Delhi: Legendary sprinter Milkha Singh dies at 91 Covid survived, but he was troubled by the problems associated with it. He spent a lot of time in the hospital and at home. Milkha was caught by covid on May 20. Days later, after recovered from covid he returned home. However, he was admitted to the PJIMER Hospital in Chandigarh again due to a lack of oxygen in his body. But his health deteriorated and he was pronounced dead at 11.30 pm on Friday.
Nirmal Kaur, the wife of Milkha Singh and former captain of the Indian volleyball team, died on June 14 due to covid. He died at a hospital in Mohali. Milkha, meanwhile, was being treated by a special medical team.
Known as the ‘Flying Sikh’, Milkha Singh is considered the best athlete the country has ever seen. He is the only Indian athlete to win gold in the 400 meters at the Asian Games and the Commonwealth Games. He has won gold at the Asian Games four times. He finished fourth in the 400 meters at the 1960 Rome Olympics. The medal was lost by just 0.1 seconds. The country honored him with the Padma Shri in 1958.
