New Delhi: Two more people have been arrested in connection with the brutal murder of a Dalit youth at a farmers’ strike venue on the Singh border. Bhagwant Singh and Govind Singh, both from Nihang, were arrested by Haryana police. Four Nihangs were arrested in connection with the incident. Two members of the Nihang faction had been arrested earlier in the incident. Sarabjit Singh was the first to be arrested.
He was produced in Sonipat court and remanded by the court. Another man, Narayan Singh, was arrested on Saturday. He was arrested from Amarkot district in Punjab. A Dalit youth was brutally killed after cutting off both his hands at a farmers’ strike in Kundali. He was later hanged at a police barricade. Following the controversy, the Joint Kisan Morcha came to the scene accusing the Nihangs of being behind the killings. Balwinder Singh, the head of the Nihang organization, had said that the killings were carried out for insulting their holy book.
