New Delhi: President Ramnath Kovind has appointed Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde as the next Chief Justice of India. He will be sworn in 18 next month. Bobde was Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court. He retires on April 23, 2021. Born on April 24, 1956, in Nagpur, Maharashtra, he graduated from the Nagpur University. In 2000, he was appointed as an Additional Judge of the Bombay High Court.
He became the Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court in 2012. He reached the Supreme Court in 2013. He is a member of the bench which has considered important cases like Ayodhya and BCCI.
