Kolkata: West Bengal will go to the polls tomorrow for the seventh phase of the Lok Sabha polls against the backdrop of intense Covid expansion. The booth will reach the seventh phase, including the Murshidabad region, where the Covid expansion is rampant.
Voting in the seventh phase will take place in 36 constituencies. The vote comes amid heavy security in the wake of previous clashes. With the polls closed tomorrow, the Bengal Assembly polls will be shortlisted in only 35 constituencies in the eighth phase.
As the spread of Covid in the country continued unabated, there was a growing demand for a one-time final election in Bengal. But the Election Commission did not give in. The Bengal elections will be held under extreme security in the wake of the second wave of Covid.
