Patna: Baniyapur police have arrested seven people in connection with the killing of three people in Saran in Bihar over alleged cow smuggling. An FIR has been registered against them.
On Friday morning, some villagers in Baniyapur caught three people traveling with a cow in a pickup van. The villagers then brutally assaulted them at around 4.30 am, accusing them of trying to steal the cattle. The police rushed to the nearest hospital, where all three succumbed to their injuries, but all three succumbed to their injuries. The villagers allege that the three men from the nearby village got into a pickup van and tried to steal their cattle.
The police registered a case against the villagers on a complaint lodged by relatives of the deceased. Meanwhile, All India Majlis Etihadul Muslim (AIMM) leader Asaduddin Owaisi has questioned the mob lynching in parliament. He said that despite the Supreme Court order that the law should be enacted to prevent mob lynching; the government has not taken any action in this regard. The Owaisi said this in the discussion over Human Rights Protection Amendment bill 2019 in the parliament.
