Researchers have found that N95 masks are the most effective way to reduce the spread of COVID. The findings are based on a study by a research team of ISRO scientists. The researchers said that most of the COVID was transmitted through aerosol droplets released during coughing and sneezing.
The study was led by Padmanabha Prasanna Sinha of ISRO and Prasanna Sinha Mohan Rao of Sreejayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Science and Research.
A study published in the journal Physics of Fluid found that N95 masks are effective in preventing the horizontal spread of cough. An unexplained cough can spread up to three meters, but even a standard disposable mask can reduce it to 0.5 meters, the researchers said.
