New Delhi: Alert issued in 17 states regarding Popular Front ban. Police have intensified surveillance on social media. Other PFI-linked organizations are also under scrutiny.
Central forces have been deployed in PFI areas of influence in five states. Proceedings have been initiated to confiscate PFI assets. Maharashtra issued orders for further action. The order is to take action under Section 42 of the UAPA. Instructions were given to the Collectors and Police Commissioners.
Security has been beefed up in Delhi. Delhi Police is on high alert to maintain law and order in the city. More police have been deployed in Popular Front strongholds. The action was taken because of reports that there was a possibility of protests.
Senior police officials including DCPs of the respective districts conduct the inspection directly. The police said that they are ready to deal with any emergency and will deploy more forces if necessary.
Last day, the central government banned the Popular Front and its affiliates.
