New Delhi: The central government has issued a warning to the state governments regarding the outbreak of pneumonia in China. It is suggested that the state governments should provide necessary facilities in the hospitals. The Union Health Secretary has sent a letter to all states and Union Territories stating that there is no need to fear at present and it is enough to follow precautions.
The letter also suggests that the government should ensure that hospitals have facilities such as beds, medicines, vaccines, oxygen and antibiotics. The instructions issued earlier this year in relation to Covid are the same instructions given in the case of pneumonia.
The Integrated Disease Surveillance Project units have also been instructed to closely monitor symptoms in children and the elderly. The Center has suggested that the virus research diagnostic laboratories in the states should be used to speed up the testing process by collecting secretions from the nose and throat of those showing symptoms.
