Walayar: The Tamil Nadu Health Department has said that border checks will be tightened in the coming days as more Keralites from other states come to Kerala for Onam. Prior to this, the Deputy Director of the Coimbatore Health Department, Dr. Aruna Walayar visited the Tamil Nadu check post on the border.
To go to Tamil Nadu, one of the two vaccination certificates and the RTPCR negative certificate taken within 72 hours are required along with the e-pass. The Tamil Nadu Health Department and the police have been camping at the border near the Walayar Chavadi bridge for two weeks to check these.
All except lorries and hospital lorries will be deported to Tamil Nadu on presentation of these documents. Those who are not will be deported from the border. On Tuesday, 130 people were sent back without documents.
Thirty people who arrived at the hospital without documents were deported after a free RTPCR examination. Twelve people were fined for traveling with five people in the car. The car can carry only four people, including the driver, and two people in the truck. Those who go to Tamil Nadu for work every day will be issued a travel pass for ten days on presentation of a certificate of two vaccines.
