Chennai: Tamil Nadu has tightened restrictions in the wake of rising corona cases.
The government has come up with strict restrictions ahead of the Pongal celebrations in the state. The Chief Minister said that all celebrations and gatherings related to Pongal should not be held across the state under the present circumstances.
Chief Minister MK Stalin has said that the Pongal celebrations will start from January 14 and all public and private celebrations will be postponed. It is advised not to hold anything like Pongal events, rallies, and religious gatherings in colleges till further notice.
Night control is from 10 pm to 5 am. Shops, hotels, and businesses will not be allowed to operate during this time. The meeting, chaired by Chief Minister MK Stalin, decided to allow only essential services.
Schools will be closed from tomorrow as part of the restrictions. Continuing education is available online for grades one through nine. As of Tuesday, 121 people in Tamil Nadu had been confirmed to have Omicron.
People should be allowed only 50 percent of the seats on public transport such as bus, train, and metro. The night curfew will begin at 10 a.m. and end at 5 p.m. There will only be online classes for students in grades one through nine. Offline classes are allowed for 10th and 12th-grade students only.
