New Delhi: Omicron has confirmed one in Delhi and nine in Rajasthan. In Maharashtra, seven new cases have been reported. With this, the number of confirmed cases of Omicron in the country has increased to 21. The man, who came from Tanzania, was diagnosed with the disease in Delhi. The patient was shifted to Lok Nayak Jaiprakash Hospital. The patient is an Indian and returned from Tanzania a few days ago. The patient contact list is being prepared and checked. Nine members of a family were diagnosed with the disease in Jaipur, Rajasthan. Four of them are from South Africa. In Maharashtra, one of the newly diagnosed cases is from Pune and six from Chinchwad. The first case of omicron was reported in Maharashtra on Saturday. The 33-year-old, who arrived in Mumbai from South Africa via Dubai-Delhi, was first diagnosed with Omicron. With this, the total number of Omicron cases in the state has increased to eight, according to the state health department. The first two cases in the country were in Karnataka. The third was confirmed in Gujarat and the fourth in Maharashtra. Omicron was identified by South African health experts on November 25. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has asked the government to suspend flights in the wake of the spread of the covid variant. The World Health Organization (WHO) has called on countries to increase vaccination rates and intensify health control measures.
