Srinagar: National Conference leader Omar Abdullah will become the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir. The announcement was made by party president Farooq Abdullah after the assembly meeting of the National Conference Party. Farooq Abdullah also stated that the decision to make Omar Abdullah the Chief Minister was taken unanimously. A letter will be sent to the governor tomorrow.
A meeting of the allies will be held on Friday regarding government formation. Meanwhile, the National Conference got the support of four more independents. With this, the party got the support of 46 MLAs in the 90-member assembly. Omar Abdullah can now form the government without the support of the Congress.
Senior NC leader Farooq Abdullah had earlier announced that Omar Abdullah will become the chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir. Omar Abdullah responded that he was happy with Farooq Abdullah’s announcement and would meet the Prime Minister for statehood.
